A Slippery Slope

There was a lot going on in today’s show.
I previewed The Phoenix FM Referendum Debate. Mike Jones will be hosting a debate on Friday 27 May at 1pm with William Lloyd and Chris Hossack, respective leaders of the local REMAIN and LEAVE campaigns, and Alan Woods, editor of the Brentwood Gazette.
Then on another important EU issue I asked if it was possible that Joe and Jake could win Eurovision when the UK doesn’t seem too popular in Europe nowadays!

Also, with thanks to The Brentwood Gazette, I related a new proposal to raise money for charity locally.

Inflatable-Water-Slide-2

A giant inflatable waterslide could run the length of Warley Hill if ambitious plans for a new fundraiser in Brentwood get off the ground.

Calls to run the 250m long slide down the town’s steepest slope have received backing from a local Cancer Research UK fundraiser.

The charity raised as much as £45,000 at its SlideRider event in North Hill, Colchester, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Between 4,000 and 5,000 people watched thrill-seekers hurl themselves down the slippery slope, with each of the 1,500 competitors having donated £15 to the charity for two slides.

Thanks to a variety of unique shops and the Essex Arms pub at the bottom, traders say a carnival atmosphere would easily be generated.

A waterslide next to a pub?

Sounds like a slippery slope to me!
