Reeeeemix!

There are a fair few songs out there that have done better in the charts thanks to it’s remixed version. So on tonight show we had a look at some of these tracks.

Fast Cars – Tracey Chapman (Jonas Blue ft Dakota)
fast cars
The original top ten 80’s track by Tracey Chapman, now sung by Dakota and it has also done very well in the UK charts getting to number 1 which beat the original which peaks at number 4.

I Took a Pill – Mike Posner (SeeB Remix)
I took a pillWe are all used to listening  to SeeB’s version of Mike Posner’s comeback track, but the original is actually an acoustic version. But it’s been remixed into a dance anthem and improved the chart spot for Mike Posner, maybe even more for him than anyone else on this list as he got him his first UK number 1!

Waves – Mr Probz (Robin Schulz Remix)
wavesThe original track did well in the Netherlands which is good as Mr Probz is Dutch but then it got international success when Robin Schulz got his hands on it and produced a remix. It then hit the top of the charts in many countries including the UK. The remix also became the 4th biggest selling on in 2014.

Prayer in C – Lillywood (Robin Schulz Remix)
prayer in cSeems that everything Robin Schulz touches hits the big time as the original version of this track by Lillywood got to number 9 in France but the remix again topped the charts in about 22 countries!

Igniton – R Kelly Remix

ignitionMost of the songs on this list have been remixed by other artists however the remix of Ignition by R Kelly was done by himself. The reason for this is because he had an album leak in 2002 so in order to keep it fresh and not lose the tracks he remixed some of them. And it was a smart move as not only do I personally think it’s better but I’m not alone in saying that as it got R Kelly his second number 1.

Cheerleader – Omi (Felix Jaehn remix)

cheerleaderMost Phoenix presenters love this track and fair few chose it as their Presenter Pick for last year, but would have chosen the original? Omi’s version is much more laid back and though it had success in Jamaica, Felix Jaehn turned it into a dance hit and made it a number 1.

The Girl is Mine – 99 Souls

girl is mineThis one is more a mash up then a remix as it features Destiny Child’s 2004 song Girl and Brandy’s late 90’s track The Boy is Mine. But never the less it has done well in the current charts since it’s release.

Florence and the Machine – Spectrum (Say My Name) (Calvin Harris Remix)
say my nameNot really having much affect in the charts at first Florence and the Machine owe a lot to Calvin Harris who got the band their first number 1 and lasting for 3 weeks with his remix.

Day n Night – Kid Cudi (Crookers Remix)

day n niteThe original was Kid Cudi’s commercial debut single and the lead single from his debut album  Man on the Moon: End of the Day released back in 2009. But then the remix by Crookers got to number 2 on the UK single chart and top 20 in various European charts. They also made another music video for the remix.

If I Lose Myself – One Republic (Alesso Remix)

if i lose myselfOriginally recorded for One Republic’s third studio album, Native, the remix ended up being featured on both the UK and US reissue of the album as well as Alesso’s debut album, Forever.
