Today we heard about Lauren Jones who is studying to become a doctor – but Lauren has a problem.
She has a terrible phobia of belly buttons.
Whilst any kind of phobia is no laughing matter for the person suffering it, I couldn’t help finding this amusing. Our bodies and minds do some strange things to us sometimes and sometimes you’ve just got to laugh…
Lauren, is studying at University of Leicester, and is unable to go anywhere near belly buttons without feeling faint and nauseated.
Suffering from Omphalophobia, she is so repulsed by the idea of anyone touching her navel or their own that she gets physically sick.
Well I genuinely wish Lauren well and hope she soon overcomes this condition, and that it doesn’t get in the way of her chosen career.
I’m not sure if I suffer from Omphalophobia or not. I haven’t seen my belly button for years!
