Nine Years of Phoenix FM – 23rd March 2007

I wasn’t there at the start. That was around 20 years ago. I wasn’t even there at the start of 24/7 broadcasting on the 23rd March 2007. A relative newbie then and proud to have been involved with Phoenix FM for almost 5 years now.

Here’s a newspaper clipping from 5 years ago that tells the story much better than I could.

Phoenix FM

Anyway I thought a good way to mark the occasion would be to have a run down of the UK Top Ten from 23rd March 2007, our first day of full time broadcasting. Usually when you look back at old charts you tend to find just a couple of good songs that have stood the test of time. For our opening week though, it was a pretty good chart with only a couple of “forgotten songs” – well for me anyway. This is what I found.

23rd March 2007 Top Ten

  1.  WALK THIS WAY – SUGABABES VS GIRLS ALOUD
  2. THE SWEET ESCAPE – GWEN STEFANI FT AKON
  3. (I’M GONNA BE) 500 MILES – PROCLAIMERS/B POTTER/A PIPKIN
  4. SHINE – TAKE THAT
  5. HOW TO SAVE A LIFE – FRAY
  6. RUBY – KAISER CHIEFS
  7. GRACE KELLY – MIKA
  8. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND – JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
  9. THE CREEPS – CAMILLE JONES
  10. ACCEPTABLE IN THE 80S – CALVIN HARRIS

Happy Birthday Phoenix!
