Ryman League Premier: Brentwood Town 0 Hampton and Richmond Borough 3

Hampton and Richmond Borough return to the top of the Ryman League, after a comfortable 3-0 away victory to Brentwood Town to stump their survival hopes at the Brentwood Arena.

The away side got a quick two goal lead through Eddie Hutchinson’ early opener and Jamal Lowe’s strike.

Lowe then capped off Hampton’s return to lead the table, with a brace in the second half for their fifth straight win.

Mike Flanagan made four changes to his sides that drew 1-1 in the derby against Billericay Town, Tom Richardson was side-lined due to a hamstring injury which made way for Shad Ngandu.

Sam Cross, Leon Gordon and Andrew Freeman all moved to the bench as Concord loanee Sam Collins, Joshua Banton and Mitch Hahn come into the side.

Hampton got off to a flier as they scored within four minutes, after a free-kick by Tom Beere was headed goalwards and superbly saved by Ollie Bowles but Hutchinson was first to react to tuck it in.

The away side should have doubled their lead, as Brendan Kiernan went through on goal and his well-struck shot was palmed by Bowles onto the crossbar and the rebound fell to Lowe who headed over from the six-yard box.

Hampton again, showed why their at the top end of the table by almost getting a second, as Beere chased down a through ball which was blocked by the rushing Bowles, for his third save in ten minutes.

Lowe was then put through on goal and scored but for the linesman who flagged offside to Brentwood’s relief.

Although Lowe did put the ball into the net 12 minutes later whilst remaining onside, as he was allowed to travel with the ball into the box and lashed his shot into the bottom corner.

Brentwood had their first real clear chance shortly after the half hour mark, as Elbi cut the ball back out on the wide right to whip the ball in for Marcus Milner – who miss times his header wide.

In the second half Brentwood had the opening chance of the half, as Ngandu worked the ball out to Milner whose shot was well-saved by Mark Smith down low at his near post.

Hampton sealed the three points 15 minutes from time, as Leon Soloman managed to squeeze the ball across the six-yard box for Lowe to finish.

‘The Blues’ now move on to the crucial match in their relegation battle, as they take the trip to Staines Town at the weekend.
