Remembrance Day Parade and Service

Thousands of residents, young and old, came together on Remembrance Sunday to pay their respects and commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives for their country.

remembrance

Brentwood’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service took place in and around Brentwood High Street on Sunday 8 November 2015.

The Parade assembled at Brentwood School, in Middleton Hall Lane before going to the War Memorial accompanied by the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band. This was followed by a service conducted by Father Colin, from St Thomas’ Church before a two minutes’ silence and then the wreath laying took place.

A march past and salute was taken by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex Dennis Rensch from the Dias in the High Street before a Service of Remembrance took place at St Thomas’ Church.

Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Reed, said: “On days like this you remember those who are no longer here. We must never forget those who have given and continue to give their lives in wars and conflicts and those who have fought for our freedom. We owe them a debt of gratitude and I was pleased that so many people were able to attend on Sunday and pay their respects.

During the Remembrance Day Parade, Brentwood town centre came to a standstill as thousands of people came together and lined the streets. Veterans, Brentwood Imperial Youth Band, Cadets and Scouts were amongst those who took part in the Parade before a service at St Thomas of Canterbury.

My thanks go to the hundreds of participants and supporters who worked together to create a very memorable day.”
