Richard Digance Award-winning comedian and folk singer – BOOK NOW to see him at THE QUEENS THEATRE 25th OCTOBER

richard digance

It was a pleasure to interview the awarding Award-winning comedian and folk singer Richard Digance (who thought that I sounded rather posh.. if only for the introduction hahaha).

A great show coming to The Queens Theatre with Richard on Sunday 25 October at 7.30pm.

More about Richard Digance

There are few people who can sing, play guitar and tell stories all at the same time… and even fewer who have supported Steve Martin, the late Robin Williams or duetted with Brian May! With over 40 years in the business, Richard is one of the UK’s most successful entertainers. Armed with great tunes and sharp wit, he promises a unique mix of self-penned songs, rhymes and plenty of hilarious anecdotes from his life in showbiz.

And he’s certainly worked with the heavyweights – from an acoustic set with Status Quo to playing guitar with Queen icon Brian May, not to mention performing alongside The Moody Blues, Chris de Burgh, Marc Cohn and Elkie Brooks to name a few!

Starting out as a BBC comedy writer, Richard went on to support some of the world’s funniest people including superstar comedian Steve Martin in the USA and the late Robin Williams at the London Palladium. And today’s new generation of young comedians truly look up to him, with Ross Noble citing Richard as one of his main influences. Warm and charming, Richard easily engages with any crowd – from an audience of eight in the Falklands to half a million at Knebworth!

This truly multi-talented writer and performer has received a BAFTA nomination as a television entertainer, a Gold Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, a SONY Radio Award and is listed in the Virgin Anthology of Music as an influential writer of comedic songs.  He has also been recently placed amongst The Magnificent Seven of Comedy alongside Tommy Cooper and Bob Monkhouse in a list compiled by The Sunday People.

A skilled wordsmith, younger audiences will know and love Richard from his regular appearances on Countdown’s Dictionary Corner. He has also penned several books, poems, plays and scripts.
