Friday Night Extra 14th August 2015 Relaxing summer

Tonight the show included a special item remembering August 14th 1967 when the Marine Offences Bill became law at midnight, The result was that, with the exception of Caroline, all the pirate radio ships closed down. At midnight Caroline announced it was staying on air. We remembered this by playing the Radio London theme, the no. 1 at the time from Scott MacKenzie, the Caroline theme and We shall overcome, the first track played after midnight. Without the pirates there would not be stations like Phoenix98FM today. The news stories included a Bible theme park in Utah that buys old wax works from Madame Tussards and uses them in Biblical tableaus. Prince Philip is an angel and Tom Cruse is Jesus! You could not make it up!! A man who had lost a wallet down the back of a train seat had it returned thirty years later. It does not say much for the cleaners over the years.

Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Gerry Rafferty – Right down the line
Brandon Flowers – Only the young
Lou Reed – Perfect day
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss – Please read the letter
PAMS 1961 – Sonowaltz – Radio London theme

Bangles – Eternal flame – requested by Patrick

Claire Teal – Everything is you
Carrie Underwood – Don’t forget to remember me
E.L.P. – From the beginning
Alison Krauss – Baby now that I’ve found you (live)
Gary Barlow – 6th Avenue – for everyone who attended the Ingatestone Summer Show.
