Rosie Vanier live in the studio

It’s lovely when someone comes all the way from Cornwall just to appear on Phoenix FM and it’s even better when they treat us to a fantastic musical performance!

Rosie Vanier, one-third of electronic band Rosie and the Goldbug, came down to visit Michelle Ward’s show to play some songs and talk about her life so far in music.

2015-07-27 Rosie Vanier

It’s been a long time since Rosie and the Goldbug were on the Phoenix FM playlist. We gave a lot of airplay to the excellent War Of The Roses single when it first came out and also caught the band at the Latitude Festival.

After a long quiet period the band are back and releasing new material again. Rosie has been described as “Kate Bush on crack with Goldfrapp on synths”, although it’s very unfair to suggest that either Rosie or Kate Bush would be on crack or that it would indeed enhance their work.

We definitely got to see the side of Rosie that channels Kate Bush, with excellent versions of three of the songs in her repetoire, which you can see in the video at the top of the page.

The band’s new single Hey You is out on 21 August and they will be playing a number of venues in Devon and Cornwall in August, with shows nearer to home hopefully coming before the end of the year.

You can keep up to date with news about the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
