When you are going on your travels by plane have you ever noticed that some people seem to have more and larger hand luggage than you’d put in the hold?

Well Virgin Atlantic has just revealed some of the strange items that people have tried to check in. These have included a car engine – yes really, a microwave, a live goldfish and even a crab that its owner wanted to take on holiday to Hong Kong.

A passenger at JFK turned up with a pet tarantula hidden inside a ladies coat – glad I was not going to be sitting near to them, a bag of cutlery previously stolen from a Virgin Atlantic flight at Delhi airport, a bag of sand and seawater by a couple who fell in love on the island of Grenada and wanted a memento of the place where they met. And a bag of soil and coconut trees also at Grenada airport. And to top it all someone at JFK even tried to take a dead cow wrapped in plastic aboard the plane. What on earth were they planning to do with it, that’s what I’d like to know?
