Interrupted Interviews

Little Mix played a bit of a prank on a children’s TV presenter this week.
Little Mix member Jesy Nelson walked out of an interview on a children’s programme when presenter, 16 year old Harvey Cantwell asked her about her style.
Stating that Jesy always wear hats and so does her boyfriend, lead singer of Rixton,  Jake Roche, Jesy got ‘upset’ and the fact Harvey was insinuating she copies her boyfriend’s style and that she doesn’t have her own. She got up off the sofa and walked off while fake crying with fellow band members Leigh-Anne and Jade running after her. Perrie stayed on the sofa with a worried look on her face, turned to Harvey and said ‘I think it’s because she has her own style’.
The video on youtube shows everyone else in the studio just look shocked and bewilded – all he did was compliment her on her hats! And then the relief on their faces when the girls walked back in shot and reveal it was all a joke!

This inspired this weeks theme, to look back on other celebs who have walked out on or ended interviews…

S Club 7

s club 7S Club 7 reunited this year for a tour, but going back to 2003 when they  decided to spilt up, Jo, John, Hannah and Bradley had  an interview with Claudia Winklemen to explain why. However one question ruffled a few feathers of their PR manager. The question was “There are rumours, I don’t know how true they are, that you guys are grumpy that you haven’t made a mint…” The band themselves did look a bit shocked at the question and Bradley tried to turn it into a joke about breath mints but as Jo tried to answer with a more mature answer their PR came in and angry stopped the interview saying ‘I’m not having this’ and told the guys to leave. A producer asked if they could start the interview again but the PR wasn’t having it and said no.

Peter Andre

peter andrePeter Andre stopped an interview for more personal and emotional reasons back in 2010 when he was constantly asked about his children and then shown footage of his step son Harvey’s real dad, Dwight Yorke, doubting Andre’s claims of adoption, which rightfully rattled and angered Pete.
He was there to promote his new album but presenter Kay Burely started off with more personal issues such as Katy Price’s marriage to Alex Reid and how he was going to handle the situation with his kids. She then got even further to ask how would he feel if Alex Reid wanted to adopt his children! It was all very unexpected for him. Clearly upset, Kay moves onto talking about his tour but he is too upset to continue with the interview and asks for it to be stopped.

Chris Brown

chris brownBack in 2011 Chris Brown was having an interview on the American show ‘Good Morning America’ when he was constantly questioned about his relationship with Rihanna and his assault case which had recently happened at the time. He kept diverting the questions back to the album that he was there to promote but it all got a bit too much for him as after his performance a window was smashed in his dressing room, which could or could not have been Chris, but it was clear in the interview he was getting agitated and with his history there is a big possibility it was him.

Rihanna

rihannaDuring an interview for her film ‘Battleship’ back in 2012, she was asked a question which made her think the interviewer was hinting at the rumours that had gone around about her and Ashton Kutcher. The question was ‘You talk recently about how difficult it is finding love in general, how frustrating is it when you’re linked to another Hollywood star, even if you’ve barely met them?’ She didn’t take well to the question and rolled her eyes but nevertheless answered it saying ‘Very frustrating, almost as frustrating as being asking about it’. After another question she replied ‘People are interested in a lot of things that don’t matter or shouldn’t’, before the interview abruptly finished. Her walking out of the interview wasn’t show but that is what was reported.

Justin Bieber

justin and harryWould you get offended if you was told you sounded like one of the biggest , most popular and probably richest singers on this planet? Or would you take it as a compliment? That’s all the interviewer meant when he told Justin Bieber during a radio phone interview that he thought it was Justin Timberlake when he first heard Bieber’s song ‘Boyfriend’. But Bieber didn’t take it that way. His first reaction was ‘it’s funny because our voices sound nothing a like’ and he went on to explain that he doesn’t see it as a compliment saying you sound like someone else or thinking it was someone else. If the host had said he has some, ‘Justin Timberlake esque’ then Bieber would have taken that as a compliment. So things continued quite calmly until the host mentioned One Direction and asked if Bieber worries about Harry Styles being around his mum because Harry likes older wome. Bieber bites back saying ‘I think you should worry about me round your mum’, the host then informs Bieber that his mum is unfortunately dead – after a bit of silence the host says this is where the interview goes south and Bieber hung up.
