Yes you read the title right, there are some celebrities who are looking for love on the dating app Tinder! But before you all rush to get your phones up to sign up or start swiping, lets take a look and how all their tinder stories evolved, ended and didn’t even start…
Ed Sheeran
Since it’s development back in 2014, it was announced this week that celebrities who want to use Tinder will now have the option to have the blue badge of approval to prove it is them, and not a crazy fan making a fake account. This blue badge is the same as the blue tick which you find on a celebrities official twitter page, having this then makes the Tinder profile a verified account. The company says verified accounts are available to “notable public figures, celebrities, and athletes”.
None other than Ed Sheeran was the first to be offered a profile with this blue tick last year, but he turned it down. He explained that he didn’t have ‘time to go on lots of dates’ and that it ‘sounds creepy doing that because then you’re just using your celebrity status to hook up with chicks.”
Jason Derulo
Jason Derulo uses Tinder, but girls before you get too excited, he uses it in a unique way and not for dating. Although he says he does have an input in his friends and family’s Tinder swiping saying if to go left or right. So you can’t date Jason Derulo but you might have the chance to date his brother or cousin!
However Jason himself uses Tinder to promote his music. His most recent single ‘Want You To Want Me’ was premiered on the app.
Talking about the reason behind his idea he said ‘I wanted to find a new unique way to launch my video. I know my fans are tapped into social networking so what better way to launch my video for Want To Want Me than through one of the fastest rising social networking apps, Tinder’.
‘I see this app as the wave of the future. I know my fans will swipe right,’. Confident.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears was signed up to Tinder is 2014 by U.S presenter Jimmy Fallon when she appeared as a guest on his show. He uploaded a pic of her holding one of her perfumes; if it didn’t get her love at least it got her product promotion! Though she was overly happy as when asked if she was excited to be on Tinder she replied sarcastically saying ‘oh yeah, I’m thrilled’.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry has also spent time on Tinder as she said she loves to scroll through the popular dating app. She joined not long after her spilt with John Mayer in 2014. However, sorry to break your hearts guys but it’s possible she is now off the app as according to the press she is still very close with John Mayer and have fuelled rumours that there still could be something going on between them!
Lindsey Lohan
Lindsey Lohan had a bit of fun embarrassing her brother when she was flicking through the photo’s on the app and come to his profile! Not missing the chance to expose this she posted a screenshot on her Instagram with the caption: “Look who I just found on @tinderapp… hey bro.”
Hilary Duff
It seems like Tinder has been the most sucessful for actress turned singer Hilary Duff. She got to know another actor called Tom and went on a date to a bowling ally when she bumped into her co-stars from the show that made her famous Lizzie Mcguire. Good job she did as he brought a friend with him too! The music video to her newest single ‘Sparks’ features interviews she has done previous to the date and footage of the date itself.
Lilly Allen
Lily Allen took to twitter to announce she had joined up to Tinder, which kicked up a bit of a fuss as she was married to Sam Cooper and have two kids. This made people wonder if their marriage was on the rocks but she did confirm nothing was wrong when she said she is ‘very much in love with a man who I’m planning to spend the rest of my life with’.
