Friday Night Extra 10.7.15 with guest ukulele player and singer Tom Page and Keith Brown O.B.E.

What a treat we had tonight! Tom Page came and played on the ukulele and sang three songs for us. He also chose three interesting folk tracks. Perfect music for a warm summer evening. Tom told us how easy it is to play the ukulele, having personally failed to learn other instruments. He told us how it is now being widely introduced in schools. He also said he finds it incredibly relaxing to play in little fifteen minute bursts, rather like taking a coffee break.

In the second hour, having flown in from Glasgow to be on the show, Keith Brown O.B.E, a friend of Friday Night Extra, returned to tell us about his award in the Queen’s birthday honours list. Keith has been involved in many significant projects across the years, including a housing project in East London for those with disabilities. His involvement in Essex County Cricket Club has helped develop a wide range of community projects. These include developing appropriate projects for those with disabilities, including blindness, to play forms of the game. He talked about initiatives developed through the Livery Companies in London and also an exciting range of new projects in Glasgow.

When Sunny Jay arrived for his programme, he said that he used to play the ukulele, and would listen to the recording of the show.
