REVIEW

What a totally fabulous Evening of Burlesque.

An Evening of Burlesque

I spoke to Burlesque Legend, Isabella Bliss who is staring in An Evening of Burlesque.  A stunning night of sophisticated tease, tassels and titillation at the Queen’s Theatre on Wednesday 24 June at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50, £21 and £24. To book, call the Box Office on 01708 443333 or book online at queens-theatre.co.uk

ABOUT THE SHOW

Direct from the West End, this internationally-acclaimed show comes to Hornchurch and is overflowing with shimmering showgirl antics, cabaret conundrums and plenty of comical farce!

The bevy of beauties includes: burlesque legend Isabella Bliss, complete with her own giant martini glass; songstress and star of the Edinburgh Festival Ivy Paige; the hilarious Madame Galina (“A rare synthesis of art and larkiness”, The Times); Amber Topaz – (“Sings with wit and passion”, The Telegraph); hula-hooping sensation Storm Hooper; star of the West End’s acclaimed Hurly Burly Show Ella Boo; sparks-flying, angle-grinding wonder Ooh la Lou and Count Adriano Fettucini, star unicyclist and a unique male circus burlesque. This fantastic show also features the superbly-choreographed Folly Mixtures troupe.

Says producer Michael Taylor: “The set list can include strutting Vegas showgirls in all their finery, a tutu too funny take on Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet, going nuts on Brazil’s Copacabana beach, a Roaring (with laughter) Twenties tribute to America’s Great Gatsby and international intrigue thanks to a James Bond finale, featuring a giant martini glass glamorously garnished by a splashing Bond Girl.”

An Evening of Burlesque has spent two years touring the world, enthralling a quarter of a million viewers. As seen from Milan to Minsk, Zurich to St Petersburg, Verona to Padova, Dresden to Dessau, audiences will absolutely adore this thrill-a-minute, fun-filled frolic into the bizarre world of burlesque and cutting-edge variety. It’s Vaudeville gone volatile: couture costumes, Royal Academy beauties, an oh-so-steamy musical score and mind-boggling speciality acts explode onto the stage in the wickedest show of the year!

Michael adds: “It’s all tease, no sleaze – combining musical and theatrical parody, magic, comedy and dance with the art of striptease – with corsets, killer heels and stockings aplenty! This is a slick and witty spectacle with sultry vocals, breathtaking choreography, mischief, magic, frivolity and fun. The show sparkles from its elaborately-decorated headdresses to its immaculately varnished toes!”

An Evening of Burlesque comes to the Queen’s Theatre, Billet Lane, Hornchurch on Wednesday 24 June at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50, £21 and £24. To book, call the Box Office on
