TV Talent Judges

Season 9 of The Voice is on its way in September and the only female in the judging panel has been swapped. Gwen Stefani is returning for the second time to the chair swivelling singing competition to replace original judge Christina Aguilera who has decided to take a break from the show in order to focus on her music and career.
Although, it is likely she will return in future series, as she has pulled out of a few seasons in the past but obviously has appeared back on the show after.

Last season’s three judges, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Country singer Blake Shelton and current The Voice champion Pharrell Williams have safe seats as they will make up the rest of the panel.

Usher has been quite successful on his two appearances on The Voice UK, having a runner up in series 4 and then going to the next level with a winner in series 6 with Josh Kaufman.

Will.i.am – The Voice

Will.i.amWill.I.Am of course is on The Voice and is the only judge to be in the chair for all the series! He produced a winner in series three in the form of Jermain Jackson.

Rita Ora – The Voice

rita oraRita Ora who was a judge on the last series of The Voice UK but unfortunately won’t be a judge on the upcoming series 6. Well according to one website- there will be returning judges Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones, of course Will.I.Am and a new addition of Justin Bieber though other sites are saying Jason Derulo is a possibility.

Gary Barlow – The X Factor

gary barlowGary Barlow took the head judges seat when Simon Cowell took a break from The X Factor to concentrate on the American equivalent. Simon’s is a big seat to fill but Gary did it very well. He took on the role until series 11 when Simon announced he was coming back.

Kelly Rowland – The X Factor

kelly rowlandKelly Rowland is the last judge that joined series 8 but left after that due to other commitments. She also had a throat infection during the competition so couldn’t judge in the 4th week leaving previous winner Alexandra Burke to step in. She also had a stint on The X Factor USA on the third and last season.

Nicole Scherzinger/Cheryl – The X Factor

nicole and cherylNicole Scherzinger started off as a co-host on The US X Factor before becoming a full time judge after Simon got rid of Cheryl. She then also appeared on the UK X Factor before being replaced by Cheryl – I bet Cheryl felt like she got her own back a little bit there! There’s was a number of reasons going around to why Simon sacked Cheryl before the US X Factor even aired the blame was put on her thick accent, but Cowell has said he “didn’t recognize” the Cheryl that showed up for filming, citing her weird hair and outfit which many people didn’t like.

Tulisa – The X Factor

tulisaAfter being chosen from a number of celebrities that were approached to replace Cheryl when she went of to the US with Simon, N’dubz’s Tulisa  Contostavlos joined Gary and Louis and stayed for 2 series before leaving in series 10.

Britney Spears – The X Factor USA

BRITNEY SPEARS at The X Factor Season Finale News ConferenceBritney Spears popped up in The X Factor USA in series 2 when Simon Cowell  wanted her. They had month of negotiations but finally agreed to a deal but only stayed for 1 series and then quite to focus on her 8th studio album.

Mariah Carey/J-Lo – American Idol

mariah and j loTalking of American versions, American Idol which was based on the original British Pop Idol. Highest paid Latina actress and chart topper J-Lo appeared as a judge in the 10th season but was replaced by Mariah Carey for season 12 and only stayed for one season.

Nicki Minaj – American Idol

nicki minajNicki Minaj also joined American Idol at the same time as Mariah but also left at the same time to, as all singers do, focus on her music. But the two diva’s didn’t seem to get on and often had arguments on air. – Makes good entertaining TV though right?
