It’s been the best received of anything I’ve ever recorded at any time … I thought it would be nice if it had legs but it seems to have sprouted wings

Wolflight, Steve’s 23rd studio album (we think!) was released in March and reached no 31 in the UK charts – Steve’s best chart position for an album of new material since the mid 80s.

The album is, dare we say it, a concept album – a journey in search of freedom through space and time with the fantastic musicianship that’s very much a trademark of Steve and his band.

There was also very much a nod to the many tribute bands who continue to keep the music of Genesis alive – including a mention for Los Endos, who – by coincidence – we spoke to last week!

Steve talked at length about how the new album was put together, and we had a look back at the recent series of Genesis Revisited tours and what to expect when Steve gets back on the road later this year.

I also almost persuaded Steve to start a music blog – we’re always worried here that he might not be busy enough …

Wolflight is out now and you can buy all manner of special editions from Steve’s official website, which you can find at hackettsongs.com.

You can also follow two Facebook pages – his official page and the Steve Hackett Appreciation Society, and also his Twitter page to keep up to date with the latest news.
