THE BRENTWOOD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL HELLO!

THE INTERVIEW

Joined in the studio by teachers and pupils from Brentwood County High School who came in to talk about their second whole school community day.

ARE YOU A LOCAL BUSINESS?

ARE YOU A LOCAL CHARITY, RUNNING A GROUP OR PROJECT?

THEN BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU!

On Friday 19th June 2015 we will hold our second Community Day. On this day every student and member of staff will spend the day working to improve our local community. Teams of students and staff will be out and about working at care homes, churches, youth groups, sports clubs, primary schools and nurseries. They will be working on tidying up, decorating, mending, digging, teaching and many more such activities to help our local community. Some students and staff will remain in school where they  will be involved in hosting students from local primary schools for a sports event, or making things in Resistant Materials, Textiles or Food which will be donated or sold for the benefit of local community groups.

This day is another part of our push to make sure that Brentwood County High School is at the heart of our local community. For our young people it is a chance to have a widening of their education by taking part in community projects for the day. We all benefit from the work of so many groups and people in our community, and as a school we should ensure that we enable our young people to experience volunteering if they do not already do so, or to widen their experience of volunteering in the community for those who already do so.

We will be looking to support as many local community groups and projects as we can on Community Day 2015. If you know of a group or project that could make use of a team of between ten and twenty young people and a pair of staff for the day then please contact us. Clearly placing around 1000 young people and 200 staff is going to be a challenge, but we are sure that there are lots of people out in our community who could benefit from this day.
