Show eight: The Xmas Party

I think I had a bit too much fun with this week… But who cares? IT’S XMAS SOON!!! I wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible.
This week I had three guest, Amy Sergeant from Southend, Roisin O’Hagan from Chelmsford and S J Denney from Leigh-On-Sea, who filled in last minute for the unwell Amy Westney. All three are aspiring musicians all acoustic guitars were used but each with their own unique flavour. One rule: they all had to play at least one Xmas cover… and all acts were fantastic.
Along with the live performances, the playlist includes…
1. The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale of New York
2. The Wombats – Is This Christmas?
3. Eddie Cochran With The Holly Twins – I Want Elvis For Christmas
4. S J Denney – War Is Over (Live)
5. Cee-Lo Green – What Christmas Means to Me
6. This Remarkable Vessel – Xmas Carols
7. Chris Rea – Driving Home for Christmas
8. S J Denney – The Great Unknown (Live)
9. S J Denney – Bite My Tongue (Live)
10. Dean Martin – Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
11. This Remarkable Vessel – Xmas Carols
12. Amy Sergeant – I’ll Be Home For Christmas (Live)
13. Amy Sergeant – Temper (Live)
14. Kylie Minogue – Santa baby
15. Glen Campbell – Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
16. Roisin O’Hagan – Last Christmas (Live)
17. Roisin O’Hagan – Blood (Live)
18. Roisin O’Hagan – Dark, Dark Lie (Live)
19. Peggy Lee – Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
20. This Remarkable Vessel – Xmas Carols
21. Mud – Lonely This Christmas
22. Slade – Merry Xmas Everybody
23. Kingston Trio – We Wish You A Merry Christmas
24. The Impressions – I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
The This Remarkable Vessel tracks are made from my fellow bandmate Lee Tallon, who last year made everyone a Christmas Album which he put in the cards he sent out to people. He is planning to repeat the idea this year but with new songs. I also used some of his Christmas instrumentals throughout the Xmas quiz.
The quiz was a last minute idea I had. It was a funny experience and it caused a tense atmosphere. Amy, Roisin and Stuart (S J Denney) all wanted to win. There could only be one winner, and that was Amy Sergeant who became a proud owner of some Cadbury Milk Tray chocolates, all of which was likely to be stolen by Amy’s mother when she returned home.
Here’s to a great Christmas with only 11 days to go! See you on Tuesday, I am covering for Tracy Morter. 
