I was privileged to be joined today by LORD PETRE of INGATESTONE HALL who kindly agreed to tell me a bit about his family history.

It is astonishing, how at a time when religion was such a controversial issue, SIR WILLIAM PETRE managed to serve as secretary of state for no less than 4 Tudor Monarchs and Lord Petre gave me a bit of an insight as to how he might have achieved this. In a lighter vein, in the second hour of today’s show we heard about the Polish coffin maker who’s raised more than a few eyebrows, by using nude models to market his products. We also heard about the 91-year old woman who clearly did not want to take early repose in one of these items as after spending 11 hours in cold storage at the mortuary she suddenly came back to life. She complained of feeling cold – now there’s a surprise – and was revived with a bowl of soup and two pancakes!
