Ariana Grande - We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)
Listen Live Webcam

Friday Night Extra 15.11.14 You’ve got a friend.

As I had no guests tonight, we looked a theme. Following on from a request left by regular listener Michael, we had as many tracks as we could find focussing on friends and friendship. There are a surprising number when you start to dig. We also had some very odd stories indeed, like the dating site that has produced life size male manikins of two clients using a 3d printer and then placed them in a shop window in Bethnal Green. The photo is scary. A farmer missed his sheep dog that died so much that he made a replica using a car! Apparently the sheep do not mind! You could not make it up. We also discussed Jimmy Greaves auctioning his 1966 World Cup winners Medal only a few years after he was presented with one following a forty year campaign. He is expected to get £50,000.
Tonight’s playlist.
Booker T & MGs – Crazy – Show theme
Rembrants – Ill be there for you
Jackson 5 – I’ll be there
Andrew Gold – Thank you for being a friend
Queen – You’re my best friend – suggested by Lee
James Taylor – You’ve got a friend – requested by Michael
Beatles – All you need is love – suggested by Phyl
Cliff Richard – Power to all our friends
Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 – A little help form my friends
Stilgoe & Skellen – W.I. Calendar – this caused much hilarity in the chat room.
Cee Lo Green – Mary did you know? – in preview of the show on Boxing day morning from 10 a.m.
Fleetwood Mac – The Chain – for Bob in Harlow whose birthday it is tomorrow.
Carole King – You’ve got a friend.
Paul Carrick – One in a million.
Supertramp – Breakfast in America (live) -requested by Patrick
Johnny Cash – Sunday Morning Coming Down (live) for all listening in the U.S.A.
Dolly Parton – Help – we all love it!
Jackie De Shannon – Put a little love in your heart.
Take That – These days – Chris e-mailed in to say she had booked to see them next June, £72 a ticket plus a £7 booking fee. They must need the money!
Mark Antionne – Palm Springs – for Ed who thanked me for introducing him to Marc’s music, and Brad who enjoyed listening to it as he drove in for his show.
Katie Melua – Crawling up a hill – played after Rene told us about Katie going to the doctor with a pain in her ear and then finding a live spider living in her ear! Apparently she kept it in a glass for a little while before letting it go!
Tubeway Army – Are friends electric?
Emerson Lake and Palmer – From the beginning.

I will not be with you next week. Join me in two weeks time. And if you are having withdrawal symptoms (as if!) you can check out lots of the previous shows on the show blogs.
