Brentwood Town get back to winning ways after they won 2-0 away at Soham Town Rangers, with a controlled performance at The Julian Martin Lane.

Sherwin Stanley grabbed the opener on the half hour mark, with a header after numerous missed chances by the home side.

New signing Marcus Milner for ‘The Blues’ from Ware, scored on his debut with his second half strike which secured the three points for Brentwood.

The home side put pressure on Brentwood in the first five minutes as David Brown’s shot from the six yard box was blocked by Ollie Bowles, to deny Soham the lead.

A short corner allowed Soham to get a cross in far post for Captain Jordan Gent. His header hit the bar but referee deemed he used the Brentwood defender as leverage.

Soham almost took the lead after a great bit of skill from Brown, as he held the ball up and hit it on the half volley which trickled wide of the goal.

The hosts had a dangerous free-kick central to the goal 25 minutes in and it went just wide by Joel Abbs.

Brentwood took the lead against the run of play after an over hit cross from debutant Marcus Milner found Louis Baucutt, whose cross was met by Stanley to take the lead.

Within the second minute of the second half Sam Bantick’s cross found Stanley again but he miscued his header from inside the six yard box, which was a big let off for Soham.

Andy Palmer got passed Stokes and shot from the edge of the box which was parried by Bowles for a corner.

The resulted corner was palmed away again by Bowles after an overhead kick from Deakan Napier.

Just over 15 minutes to play and Ryan Sharman had a fortunate ball fall into his path but was denied a goal by an another amazing save from Bowles.

‘The Blues’ extended their lead with 14 minutes remaining on the counter-attack as Darryl Robson carried and offloaded it to Bantick, which he laid it off for debutant Marcus Milner to lash home from just inside the box.
