FA Youth Cup 3rd Round Qualifying: Brentwood Town 0 Royston Town 2

Royston Town will progress to the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup after a frustrated Brentwood Town were knocked out from a 2-0 home defeat.

Ross Maddox got the visitors the lead early on, which was doubled by Danny Mcgovern at the back end of the half.

Royston got an early lead six minutes in as Maddox slotted in from close range who looked to be offside but the linesman was stationary.

The away side nearly doubled their lead after a cross was not cleared and Maddox acrobatic effort ended on the roof of the net.

Brentwood had their first opportunity as a long lifted ball evaded all the Royston defenders and found Joe Cutmore whose header went straight at Rogers.

Royston did double their lead in added time after Jay Taylor intercepted Captain John Burgess and put in King as he slotted it past Alborough on the edge of the box.

Three minutes into the second half George gave away a penalty for a handball but Mcgovern shot rebounded off the crossbar and away from danger.

Just after the hour mark Hisham Kasimu had a great chance to grab a goal back after a dangerous ball was not cleared and he shot from a tight angle was clipped just over the post.

A Corner taken by Charlie Portway was headed just over the bar by substitute Adeoyo Olymuyiwa.

Connor Hogan’s long range shot from about 20 yards was parried away by George Rogers could not be turned in in injury time as Brentwood bail out of the FA Youth Cup.
