80’s shoes, Ottawan and Grolsch bottle tops

facebook.com/GR80sRadioShow @Gr80sRadioShow

We were back talking about 80’s fashion this week, and what a lot to talk about!!! Helen got in touch to mention baggy jeans and adding Grolsch Bottle tops to her shoes. Julie wore big blue glasses like Su Pollard in Hi De Hi and Jane loved her Ra-ra skirts.

Due in large part to the popularity of aerobic workout gurus such as Jane Fonda, as well as popular films such as “Dirty Dancing” and “Flashdance,” the 1980s saw a significant rise in popularity for clothing normally associated with ballet performers and dancers. In addition to fashion trends such as baggy, wide-necked sweatshirts that hang over one shoulder, headbands and leg warmers, women in the 1980s often wore ballet flats as a form of casual, everyday footwear. Similar in look to jellies, ballet flats were typically made entirely from cloth, including their soles, making them both extremely thin and foot-hugging, as well as highly disintregratable!!!

We also talked favourite toys and David said he loved his ZX Spectrum, whilst Tamsyn was a Sindy girl!

This week I featured Pop Rockin’ 80’s, an experienced band who perform their 80s revival shows in front of thousands at festivals but are equally as happy playing private parties or smaller venues

Lead singer and band leader Michelle is a fantastic singer and has notched up over 10 years in various well known function bands and Abba Tributes in the UK and Europe. Her claims to fame include singing backing for Dr and the Medics!. I played a couple of songs from the band, Simply the Best and Venus.
