Friday Night Extra 26.9.14 Motown special with guest Gary Seithel and featuring the music of ECHO.

It was unseasonably warm outside the studio and the music kept us warm inside. Gary came in to tell us about the free BBQ happening on Saturday lunchtime on the green in front of Ingatestone Church. He also brought in a cd of ECHO who will be playing their versions of classic Motown hits. Their tracks were fantastic and led everyone to consider their favourite Motown tracks. The band slightly change the words so they can be considered Christian songs. We had lots of positive responses and many requests. Their album is called Bought not Souled and is available from Plankton records.

We learnt that London is now the most expensive city in the world in which to live, owing mainly to the rapid increase in property prices. It now outstrips Hong Kong at number 2 and New York at number 3. In Saudi Arabia you can now be put in prison for 24 hours as well as fined for jumping a red light. This is to try and make the roads safer, where an average of 19 people are killed each day. The Metropolitan Police are to tender for a company to set up a website to sell toys, books and other police related items. They will pay £900,000 for the privilege. This is to help fund a further cut in their budget. They plan to pay the selected company £225,000 per year to run the site. They will certainly expect to sell lots of items! There were many other stories from our extra-ordinary world.
