Ryman League North: Burnham Ramblers 0 Brentwood Town 2

Mitchell updates us on another great result for the local side:-

Brentwood Town extend their unbeaten run to ten after they grinded out a 2-0 away victory at Leslie Fields against Burnham Ramblers.

Sam Bantick gave ‘The Blues’ an early lead in the second half after a defensive laps and Shad Ngandu sealed the three points in injury time to move up to fourth.

Despite Brentwood’s injured players such as Jack Gardner and Robbie Rees, striker Alex Akofi was also out due to suspension the away side stayed strong at the back and found the net.

In the first five minutes Burnham expressed their threat up front as a dangerous cross was met by Liam Burgess and looked in the bottom corner apart from a great reaction save from Ollie Bowles.

Brentwood’s counter attack with Sherwin Stanley fed Bantick in on the left flank and burst into the box but could not get the ball out of his feet and Matt Belcher blocked the shot.

‘The Blues’ almost took the lead after Stanley’s original shot was blocked but Courtney White reacted first and volleyed his shot goal wards which was well saved by Belcher.

Just before the break Ngandu rifled a shot on the edge of the box which whistled just wide of the near post.

In added time Bantick slipped in Stanley who side stepped the rushed keeper but poked the ball wide as the angle tightened.

Brentwood took the lead four minutes in after a defence laps with after a long throw was won by Danny Dafter was saved and Bantick scuffed shot was fumbled by Belcher at the far post.

Bantick almost grabbed a second two minutes later as White lifted the ball over the top for him to dink the ball on to the roof of the net.

Stanley was next to threat as a clearance turned attack was hit on the volley but was saved by the feet of Belcher to deny Brentwood a second.

In injury time Ngandu sealed the game with a second after substitute Yesah Lomotey got in burst into the box. Ngandu was laid off to slot the ball into the far post and seal the three points and extend their unbeaten run to ten.

Brentwood will now carry this record in to this eagerly anticipated FA Cup tie away to Ryman Premier leaders Maidstone United on Saturday.
