Friday Night Extra 12.9.14 with guest David Tee

I was joined by David Tee in the studio this evening for a fascinating chat about various aspects of his life, including his twenty one years as Chair of the Brentwood Deanery Synod of the Church of England. He told us as a boy he had been educated at Brentwood school from the late 1940s. We heard a hair raising tale about him being picked up by his father in a sports car and then doing 100 m.p.h. on a local road and nearly having a head-on crash. He became involved in the family business of publishing a car magazine. He talked about being involved in the Deanery Synod, which is a body that represents all twenty two Church of England churches in the borough of Brentwood. The biggest change in that time was the ordination of women as priests. He wondered where we would be now without them. He spoke very positively about the Church of England locally and the involvement with the community. He looked forward to the future and felt this was a very positive time for the church.

Tonight’s playlist.

Booker T & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Dolly Parton – Home
Chicago – Does anyone really know what time it is?
Schubert – Trout concerto – chosen by David and appreciated by Phyl via e-mail

Ike & Tina Turner – Nutbush City Limits – Requested by Chris for Sian who was dancing to it around the kitchen.
Pharrell Williams – Happy
Queen – Bicycle race – for Ella Morris and all the family and everyone taking part in the Friends of Essex Churches Bicycle ride tomorrow.

Madonna – Holiday – to go with a story about a student faking her holiday on facebook.
Clean Bandit – Rather be – requested by Rene
Kate Bush – The man I love – appreciate by Chris via e-mail

Fourplay – 101 East bound.

Join me next week for two hours of music.
