Friday Night Extra 11.7.14 with guests Duncan, Nancy & Greg from The Ingatestone Youth Council

Tonight I was joined in the studio by Duncan Lee, Nancy Jennings and Greg Boult from the Ingatestone Youth Council. They came in to talk about Y in the Park, being held on Seymour Field, Ingatestone on Sunday 20th of July, 12.30-16.30. They had all been involved with organising the event and booking the bands and DJs. We also talked about what they are doing in school and about what they hope to do later in life. It was very interesting and a privilege to talk with them. There were many positive comments via e-mail and later in the chatroom. We also had some odd news stories, like the astonishing reality that some people had actually placed bets for Germany to beat Brazil 7-1. There was also the pub in Galway that had a German and Brazilian beer as specials at 4 Euros and with a 50 cent cut in price each time a goal was scored. The German beer ended cheaper than a packet of crisps.
Tonight’s playlist.
Booker T & MGs – Crazy
Gary Barlow – 6th Avenue
Kooks – Around town
Coldplay – Paradise
Sting – Desert Rose – made everyone in the chatroom want a kebab.
Jon & Vangelis – Find my way home – dedicated to Ed.
Neil Young – Heart of gold.
Michael Jackson – Love never felt so good
Geoge O’Dowd – Live your life – requested by Michael
Frank Sinatra – The summer wind – for Patrick
Kate Bush – Running up that hill – for Chris who has entered the London Marathon for next year.
Doors – Strange Days – for Lee & Rene in the chatroom.
Van Morrison – Dwellers on the threshold
Mamas & Papas – California dreaming
Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers – Islands in the stream – for Sue and Leonard listening in Kentucky.
Beach Boys – Wouldn’t it be nice
Dusty Springfield – In private
Eagles – Take in easy
Booker T & MGs – Time in tight.

Join me next week when my studio guest is Ian Kemble from the Brentwood Schools Christian Worker Trust.

It was great to hear the teenagers from the Ingatestone Youth Council. They were all very articulate and confident. It is wonderful that they have been giving of their time to organise an event for the community. Marjorie Perring
