Friday Night Extra 4th July 14 American Chill

On the hottest day of the year to date, chilled was the musical order of the day. Being 4th of July, the chill had an American flavour. We also had some odd news stories that sparked lots of discussion in the chatroom. Particularly popular was the museum in Norway that for £325,000 will make you a replica Viking longboat. They suggest it is great for cruises. There was also the sandwich found stuffed down the back of a church organ that was being dismantled that was wrapped in a newspaper for 1896, residents in Newhaven Edinburgh being attacked by seagulls and a gardener cutting ‘Marry me?’in the hotel grass where his fiancée worked. We also heard that the Irish government have refused an on-line petition to enter My Lovely Horse by Father Ted in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Diana Krall – Let’s face the music and dance
Harry Chappin – Cats in the cradle. This track led to lots of chatroom discussion about making sure you spend time with your children when they are young.
Michael Jackson – Earth song. Rene’s favourite MJ track.
Buddy Holly – Heartbeat
Buffalo Springfield – For what it is worth
Dolly Parton – Help. This track proved very popular with listeners with many positive comments.
Bruce Springsteen – Born in the U.S.A.
Eddy Grant – Baby now that I found you
Eagles – New kid in town
Edwin Starr – War
Elvis Presley – Return to sender
Enja – Amarantine – requested by Patrick. An album that sold very well in U.S.A. and won a grammy award.
Lady Antebellum – Hello world
Marvin Gaye – Abraham, Martin and John.
Broadway soundtrack of MOTOWN – I heard it through the grapevine -in the style of Gladys Knight and Marvin Gaye.
Everly Brothers – Walk right back
Joni Mitchel – Free man in Paris – for Lee amusing everyone in the chatroom
Askew Sisters – Blue eyed stranger – requested by Michael. An interesting choice as ever. Enjoyed by Phyl.
Alison Kruass & Union Station – There is a reason – live version
Beach Boys – California girls. The chatroom’s choice for a Beach Boys track.
Ella Fitzgerald – Manhattan
Nat King Cole – Unforgeable – enjoyed by Brad preparing for his show.
Blood Sweat & Tears – You made me so very happy
Nice – America

I hope you enjoyed the diversity of the music tonight.
We managed twenty four tracks. See you next week.

Requested for next week.
Live your life by George O’Dowd – requested by Michael.
