Ahead of the arrival of my regular Tuesday visitor, CARL MERRY, we heard all about the hospital in China that requires its nurses to dress as air hostesses. Seemingly the intention is to offer a new standard of care designed to defuse tensions between staff, patients and their relatives. The question I want answered is whether each new patient is greeted with a warning that smoking in the toilets is forbidden, a demonstration of where the fire exits are, and an explanation that emergency bedpans can be found under the bed and that, if required, oxygen masks will drop down automatically!
In the second hour of the show we came back down to earth with a story involving witchcraft in Hatfield Peverel. CARL MERRY’s ESSEX TALE concerned a white cat who rejoiced in the name of SATAN. Lovely name and the cat certainly lived up to it! Listen again to today’s story here:-
