Drive-in Movies come to Brentwood and a Cat Cafe

Another busy show today with a few gremlins at the start, but I managed to beat them off with a stick!

CLASSICS of the silver screen will be shown al-fresco this year in Brentwood at the county’s first drive-in cinema.

DriveIn-One

More than 5,000 film lovers and 1,000 cars are expected to line up in front of a 60ft screen at the Brentwood Centre on the opening night of June 14.

The project is the idea of Essex friends Adam Child and Adam Ryan, who run Essex Drive-in Movies.

Alongside the film Grease – which is scheduled to start at 8pm – there will also be a fun fair, popcorn, sweets, food, snacks and a licensed bar.

All food and drink will be hand-delivered to movie watchers’ cars and the sound from the film will be piped to the cars through an FM signal that can be picked up on the car’s radio.

The company says it will bring the all-American concept to Brentwood throughout the year by showcasing classic, modern and other must-see films in a trip back to the 1950s and 1960s, when taking the family to the drive-in was all the rage.

Films Al Fresco will run throughout the year, with themed nights already being planned for Halloween and Christmas.

And the long anticipated Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium opens tomorrow, after more than a year of preparations

The wait is finally over for feline lovers everywhere – because London’s first cat cafe is ready to open.

With a whole range of furry treats in store, including toys, scratch pads, food and A LOT of feline company – it’s every cat’s heaven.

The cafe will be open to both cats and their owners, as both are free to enjoy themselves.

The website says: “At Lady Dinah’s, visitors will have the opportunity to kick back and relax with a cup of tea and spend time in the soothing company of our purring feline friends.” Sounds like a bad dream to me!
