I’m A Firewalker

Or at least I will be. It’s just one of the things on my “Bucket List” and with the help of lots of local people I will be ticking this one off my list this year …

2014-01-29 Paul Barrell

Brentwood’s first Community Firewalk is the brainchild of Jane Bennett from Bennetts Funerals and my guest today was Paul Barrell, part of the organising team behind the event which will be taking place at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday 17 May. You can hear our interview again here:

Brentwood Firewalk

The idea of the Firewalk is that people involved with different charities and communities with connections in the Brentwood, Billericay and Basildon area can raise funds for their particular charity or community by taking part in the Firewalk. A charity may wish to nominate one or two people to take part and to raise funds. Those charities who have nominated a Firewalker and have paid the £50 registration fee, per Firewalker, are entitled to have a small stand at the event to raise further awareness.

If you are a charity or community group working locally and would like to register a ‘champion’ to take part please complete the registration form and return it to Chris Froebel or Jane Bennett at Bennetts Funerals, 120 High Street, Brentwood, CM14 4AS. The registration fee is to cover the cost of the UK Firewalk team, the training provided to those talking part and the certificates afterwards. Any amount remaining after expenditure will be forwarded to local charities.

The organisers are also looking for companies to sponsor the event – if interested please read the sponsorship information which gives a bit more information about these opportunities.

You can keep up to date with the build up to the event by following the Facebook and Twitter pages.
