The first show of 2014 was jammed packed full of great music, old and new!

My band of the week were Deaf Havana, a band I managed to see a couple of times in 2013, and hope to see again in 2014. I played three songs from the band, one from each of their albums.

My track from the past came from the 60’s and a fantastic cover of  ‘Louie Louie’, by The Kingsmen.

My track of the week came from another favourite band of mine from 2013, Mallory Knox, and their song ‘Resuscitate’. Since buying their debut album, ‘Signals’, I have not stopped listening to this band, and they announced yesterday they were back in the studio starting work on their second album, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it, hopefully it’ll be released in a few months. Possibly a contender for album of the year 2014?

My track that I wouldn’t usually play on the show came in the form of ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’, from the band LCD Soundsystem. A song that is reflective of the band’s overall sound, with it being a real dance tune.

I also played brand new tracks from three local bands; ‘It Gets Cold’, by Eliza And The Bear, ‘Feel So Hollow’, by Harper and ‘Strictly Clippers’, by Curse These Metal Hands.

Harper will also be joining me in the studio next week, so make sure you tune in to hear a session and interview from the band!
