Phoenix FM had the pleasure of visiting The Straight Talking Events Hospitality Suite for this year’s Formula Ford Festival.

We spoke to the first ever winner of a Formula Ford race, Ray Allen. Ray spoke about his motor racing career which was across various single-seater formulas and included Formula Atlantic and Formula 5000. Ray then went on to have a long career as a racing instructor, eventually retiring from “sitting in the wrong seat” in 2009.

After chatting to Ray, we spoke to Tony Trimmer. Still racing at the age of 70 Tony has competed at various levels and wins include the famous Monaco Grand Prix Formula 3 support race, receiving the winner’s trophy from Princess Grace. Tony also raced in Formula 1, becoming the first winner of the British F1 championship which was run in the 1970s.
