Meetings, A Fishy Tale and Brentwood’s MP in a reasonably priced car?

It was great to get together with a host of Phoenix FM presenters last night at one of our meetings. Good to meet some of our newest presenters and discuss some burning issues. Then we retired to the pub for a post meeting meeting. Good fun and lots of nice people.

Anyway on to today’s One 2 Three

A dead shark has been discovered on the subway in New York City, transport officials have confirmed.

The unlikely passenger, about 1.2m (4ft) long, was found under a row of seats on a Queens-bound train.

The conductor asked passengers to leave the carriage and the train continued to the end of the line, where a supervisor disposed of the shark.

Pigeons and even an opossum have made their way on to the trains before, but never a shark, transit officials said.

However, where it came from remains a mystery.

Isvett Verde, of Brooklyn, New York, who took a photo of the shark, said she noticed that the empty carriage of the N train “smelled extremely fishy” when she boarded at 8th Street.

“It’s hard to be surprised as there are always crazy things happening in this city, but even that was a bit much,”

Other pictures of the exotic discovery have also gone viral, including one of the shark with a cigarette in its mouth next to a fare card and a can of energy drink.

Also Eric Pickles has reiterated his desire to appear on the BBC’s Top Gear after watching a clip of the show in which its presenters compared his appearance to a cartoon face on a thumb.

The show’s hosts invited the Brentwood and Ongar MP to come on to the show after lead presenter Jeremy Clarkson had made the comparison.

Mr Pickles said he is yet to watch the full episode which aired on Sunday evening but said he would take up the ‘Star In A Reasonably Priced Car” challenge if it was a genuine offer.

“If I get a chance to do the reasonably priced car challenge I would,” he said.

“It’s three men behaving badly. Hopefully it’ll be four men behaving badly.”

Mr Pickles, who is also Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government admitted he had plenty more pressing things on his mind, but would not shirk the challenge.

Admitting to being a “really slow” driver he accepted his position meant he was often a target to poke fun at.

He added: “I’m a bald fat guy and I’ve got a funny name; I’m a bit of an own goal really.”

After making the cartoon jibe presenting trio Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond praised his proposal to allow short stay parking on yellow lines.
