Friday Night Extra 2nd of August with guest Oliver Lincoln

On a lovely Essex summer evening my studio guest was the very talented Oliver Lincoln who brought an electric piano into the studio for a couple of live pieces. He played ‘A thousand years’ by Christina Perri and a medly including a wide variety of tunes. He also brought in three tracks that he likes. These were Annie Lennox – Walking on broken glass; Carpenters – Goodbye to love; Whitney Houston – I will always love you. These were an interesting choice for a 24 year old. He spoke about the music qualities in each track and why he like them. He noted that he likes the Annie Lennox track because it is the kind you can put on in the car and if you have had a rough day, it automatically cheers you up. This led to discussion in the chat room about tracks that can do just that. We also heard on the phone from Michael Evill. He talked about the local drama group for people with special needs called Actability and how much he enjoys being part of the group. Other artists featured tonight included Harry Chapin, Beachboys, Coldplay, Caro Emerald, Adele, Boney James & Rick Braun, Jamie Cullum, Toto and Marc Antionne. We also heard about the Surrey Police banning tatoos, how to recognise if you dog is pleased to see you and the advert for a health and safety officer for MI5. Join me next week if you can and listen again to the show during the week.
