Fast-rising Manchester indie darlings The 1975 visited our corner of the country on Wednesday and I had a chance to talk to Matty before they took to the stage in front of a packed Chinnerys audience.

The band clearly enjoyed their trip to Southend even though it was colder than the Moon. George takes a photo every time the band visits a new place and posts it up on their Facebook page – and there was a suitably bleak photo illustrating what was probably the coldest day EVER …

The gig itself was a great run-through of recent releases and songs destined for the self-titled debut album which should be out in the late spring. The band are off to tour Europe and then the US, including a stint at SXSW, and then back to more UK gigs before then.
