Again, there was very little in terms of local fixtures for the weekend as waterlogged pitches took their toll on the football action. The 4th round of the FA Cup kept us busy with updates on upsets taking us through the first hour of the show. Both Brentwood and Billericay had their league matches called off. Mike Jones brought us reports from Victoria Road as Dagenham & Redbridge lost at home to Morecambe.

Local results included:-

Nuneaton Town 2-4 Braintree Town
AFC Hornchurch 1-1 Tonbridge Angels
Truro City 1-2 Chelmsford City
Bury Town 0-4 Concord Rangers
Canvey Island 3-0 Harrow Borough
Aveley 3-1 Ware
Maldon & Tiptree 2-2 Redbridge

Harry Redknapp and Delia Smith would both have been expecting more. QPR becoming the first ever Premier League side to lose to non-league opposition in the FA cup as Luton must have taken inspiration from Bradford City’s Capital One Cup heroics during the week. The Norwich loss at home to MK Dons just reinforced the Norfolk side’s terrible lack of recent form.

We looked at the Australian Open tennis, with Andy Murray’s final up tomorrow. Brought the latest news of rule changes in Rugby League and union.
