Bringing the Happy Empire up to the table

We could all have been well and truly snowed up by this morning but the gods were shining on us so I was very lucky that neither I nor my guest BEN MILES were stuck in any snow drifts! Now Ben who not only sings and writes his own music but also plays the guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass and keyboard has been performing solo for getting on for two years as HAPPY EMPIRE  and yet he’s only 15 years old. Ben is strongly influenced by amongst others,  Mumford & Sons and even Bob Dylan.

On February 1st Ben has organised a solo performance in the 35 seater studio at The Brentwood Theatre between 8:30 to 9:15. At this event Ben will be performing many of his own compositions along with some covers. Tickets are on sale now at £7 for adults and £5 for concessions. He is also going to be at The Hooga Bar in Chelmsford on 21st February and The Essex Arms in Brentwood on March 15th.

In the second hour of the show, Frances Clamp braved the elements to give us the low down on Brentwood’s LIBRARY HILL in our BRENTWOOD & BILLERICAY BYGONES feature. You can here what Frances had to say on this subject right here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Bygones-15th-January1.mp3|titles=Bygones 15th January]

Well that’s me done for another week. Let’s hope that it will be a little less cold by next Saturday. Meantime keep warm and keep safe.
