A cold but spooky Packed Lunch

Now as many of you will know we stream our shows via webcam, but when I got back home after today’s show I was surprised to be met by my wife (who had obviously been checking up on me) to be told that I was still presenting my show. She was cross that I hadn’t called her to say I’d been delayed. I said well I’m definitely here to which I was invited to “see for myself”. Sure enough there I was large as life. Indeed I was just in time to watch myself handing over to Nikki at 2pm. Really spooky! I’m pretty sure there aren’t two of me – heaven forbid.

Perhaps I brought this on by laughing at other people’s misfortunes. During a brief review of the recently released Darwin Awards for 2012, we looked at the case of a man who awakened by the sound of his phone ringing by his bed, mistakenly picked up his gun and shot himself in the head. We also examined the case of another hapless individual who had recently had his appointment with the electric chair commuted to life imprisonment. Unfortunately whilst sitting on a metal toilet he bit into an electric cable whilst trying to fix his TV and was duly fried!

Anyway back in the real world being a very chilly day, it was not really the kind of day to be taking your PACKED LUNCH outside, so as I sat unpacking my picnic in a nice warm studio, hopefully you enjoyed all the music we got out today. Most of the music was aimed at keeping the temperature up but with the risk of impending snow I unearthed John Lennon’s version of Slippin & Slidin plus The Snowflake Boogie from Jools Holland & Edwin Starr.

In our Brentwood & Billericay BYGONES feature, Frances Clamp presented the story of when Billericay had its own money and to keep the historical aspect going we played 100 Years by Five For Fighting. Listen again to what Frances had to say right here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Bygones-8th-January1.mp3|titles=Bygones 8th January]

Anyhow weather permitting I’ll (or should I say “we’ll”) see you next Saturday. Meantime do your best to keep warm.

All the best,

Scott
