Ghosts of Christmas Past – Christmas Number Ones

On today’s show we revisited some Christmas number one’s of the past, for a change though I chose hits that were not actual Christmas records as I’m sure we’ll be hearing enough of those in the coming week!

The Christmas number ones were –

Human League – Don’t You Want Me (1981)
Girls Aloud – Sound of the Underground (2002)
Elvis Presley – Return to Sender (1962)
Dave Edmunds – I Hear You Knockin’ (1970)
Conway Twitty – It’s Only Make Believe (1958)
Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall (1979)
Michael Jackson – Earth Song (1995)
Leona Lewis – A Moment Like This (2006)
Jackie Wilson – Reete Petite (1986)
Pet Shop Boys – You Were Always on my Mind (1987)
Leon Jackson – When You Believe (2007)
3@3 today featured The Beatles who topped the charts for three consecutive Christmasses in the 1960’s with –
I Want to Hold Your Hand (1963)
I Feel Fine (1964)
Day Tripper (1965)
Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You (1992)
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody (1975 & 1991)
Westlife – I Have a Dream (1999)
Scaffold – Lilly the Pink (1968)
Shayne Ward – That’s My Goal (2005)
Then it was three from The Spice Girls who achieved the same feat as The Beatles, this time in the 1990’s
2 Become 1 (1996)
Too Much (1997)
Goodbye (1998)
and we fished the show with last year’s Christmas number one –
Military Wives – Wherever You Are

Next Week on the show – Lots of Christmas Records including your requests and Christmas dedications. Have a great week!
