FULL TIME Apologies again for the sporadic updates.  No dongle, no phone signal, not even a team sheet. It’s been as trying an afternoon for me as it was for the Rocks.   Let’s just say that their after match warm-down was considerably hotter and less relaxing than usual.   That’s football for you.  And life too!

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/8-East-Thurrock-2-2-Leiston-FT-Summary.mp3|titles=8 – East Thurrock 2-2 Leiston FT Summary]

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me. And Everything Everywhere? I couldn’t get anything anywhere. Until the next time, enjoy the weekend, and your football.

84th min – Ooh, all Leiston.   A shot goes across the face of goal and goes for a corner on the right. It’s delivered superbly and it takes a last ditch header to prevent a goal.  Phew.

76th min – GOAL! ….. East Thurrock United 2, LEISTON 2 What did I say about errors?  A visiting goal kick, a free Rocks header and kick is misdirected, and EMAUELLE OSEI takes advantage, running down the left inside the area and lobbing in.

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/7-East-Thurrock-2-2-Leiston.mp3|titles=7 – East Thurrock 2-2 Leiston]

Game well and truly on.

68th min – Fingers are frozen so updates are getting more sporadic.   Fairly even at the moment. The rain has intensified though so errors are inevitable in the closing stages.   The Leiston fans are berating the ref and lino, once for an offside decision where the visiting player was at least 2 yards off.

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/6-East-Thurrock-2-1-Leiston-Mid-2nd-Half.mp3|titles=6 – East Thurrock 2-1 Leiston Mid 2nd Half]

Great fun to see them react like that.

60th min -The conditions are winning here. The rain is now torrential. Play is very evsn, with one great save made at the Rocks end. The visiting supporters are gerting loud and a little over excited in a mix of yokel and Eastuary English. Chortle.

51st min – GOAL! ….. East Thurrock United 2, LEISTON 1 Game on.   A run down the left, a cross whipped in on the edge of the area, and the deficit is halved by BROTHERS with a close range shot.

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/5-East-Thurrock-2-1-Leiston.mp3|titles=5 – East Thurrock 2-1 Leiston]

This could be fun.

4.05pm – KICK OFF! With plenty of mickey taking at Hakeem’s dancing skills.

HALF TIME [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/4-East-Thurrock-2-0-HT-Summary.mp3|titles=4 – East Thurrock 2-0 HT Summary]

45th min – GOAL! …..EAST THURROCK UNITED 2, Leiston 0 Well, HAKEEM ARABA gets the credit for that one. A corner on the right after a Spencer Harrison shot is saved.   There’s a melee and a terrible keeper’s error.  Hakeem celebrates and does a ridiculous robot dance so I guess he got the final touch inside the six yard box.

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/3-East-Thurrock-2-0-Leiston.mp3|titles=3 – East Thurrock 2-0 Leiston]

Oh yes!

44th min – Oof, even closer. Another centre finds the visiting forward frwe with the ball inside the six yard box. It takes a wonderful smothering save to prevent the equaliser

43rd min – Ooh, close to an equaliser. Ryan Sammons gets out of position going forward down the Rocks left. The visitors exploit the gap and a centre flashes across the face of goal.

40th min – Nothimg much going on except misplaced passes and the Leiston pensioner berating his side whenever they try to play the ball on the floor. Chortle. Elsewhere, Billericay fall behind.

30th min – Apologies for lack of updates. My dongle is done and the phone is so fiddly.  Rocks have had a Hakeem Araba goal chalked out for offside.   And there a senior citizen right in front of me with a hearing aid who thinks everyone is as hard of hearing as him, shouting louder than Concorde.  Not having a great afternoon.  But you have to chortle.

22nd min – GOAL! …. EAST THURROCK UNITED 1, Leiston 0 And a wonderful chip from Reiss Gilbey, from about 22 yards out on the mid left, opens the football.

[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/2-East-Thurrock-1-0-Leiston.mp3|titles=2 – East Thurrock 1-0 Leiston]

Liquid football. Almost literally.

17th min – Having said that ….. A visiting break down the left, Rocks defenders appeal to the ref for an infringment but don’t play on, the centre meets the head of an onrushing forward but goes just wide.

15th min – Another wicked, low centre into the Leiston six yard box, and Hakeem Araba is centimetres from connecting. The Rocks have settled down well.

10th min – Play switches to the Manorway End goal. Great run and centre down the right hand side, it goes inside the six yard box, there’s a scramble, a shot cleared off the line, and Kris Newby’s follw-up slams against the near post.

3rd min – Ooh, close for the visitors. A move down the left, they get by Spencer Harrison, and the shot inside the area goes a foot wide of the near post. Blimey.

3.01pm – KICK OFF! Oh yes!

—————

2.57pm – The teams come out to a crowd of drenched die hards.

2.55pm – The rain is chucking it down but the pitch is fandabidozy. As is Covo’s beard.

2.50pm – Oops, my dongle is on the blink. Which isn’t a euphemism. Updates are going to be tricky. Let’s see how android updates work.

2.45pm – A very good afternoon from a soggy Rookery Hill for this afternoon’s little treasure trove of football fun.

Thrilled as we were by the Rocks amazing FA Cup ties last month, it doesn’t disguise the fact that their Ryman Premier League position is a little underwhelming 15th.  Admittedly, they have games in hand, but it points Covo’s boys want.

Their opponents from East Anglia have found the going tough after last season’s promotion, and find themselves rock bottom.  It’s these games that give you the collywobbles though.  This could be a tricky afternoon.

Elsewhere, Brentwood face a long trip to Suffolk in the search for equally important points, being 18th in Ryman One North.  We were also hoping to feature Billericay Town’s FA Trophy tie with Cambridge United, but for one reason or another, it wasn’t to be, but it’s always a pleasure to follow the Rocks.
