Playlist for 27 September 2012 (AOTW: Ultrasound – Play For Today)

Ultrasound were one of those bands who seemed to be on the verge of getting big – and then nothing happened. They released one album in 1999 – the epic “Everything Picture” – indie rock tinged with more than a little prog, which made the NME’s patronage of the band all the more odd – and then split up. However they reformed in 2010 and have just released the follow up album (on Fierce Panda) this week – “Play For Today” – and it’s my album of the week. Good to have them back.

Tonight’s playlist:

Mike Flowers Pops – Venus As A Boy
Ultrasound – Welfare State
Foals – Red Socks Pugie
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead – Mistakes And Regrets
Early Morning Rebel – Lifeboat
Ultrasound – Beautiful Sadness
Bat For Lashes – All Your Gold
Bloc Party – Truth
Polica – Form
Cut Ribbons – Damascus
Just Another Snake Cult – Have You Seen This Girl Anywhere
Grizzly Bear – Yet Again
British Sea Power – Mongk II
Dutch Uncles – Fester
Franz Ferdinand – Live Alone
Ultrasound – Nonsense
Metric – Gold Guns Girls
Bo Ningen – Daikaisei Part 1
Joy Formidable – Cholla
Bratmobile – Shop For America
Mascot Fight – Dalian Shied Away
Pond – You Broke My Cool
Minus The Bear – Steel and Blood
High-Low – Sunshine Recorder
Tim Burgess – White
Hot Chip – How Do You Do
Ting Tings – Great DJ
