ANOTHER BUSY LUNCH

Poor old Michelle Ward is not having much luck right now and on top of gall stones, she is now suffering from quinsy. I think it’s a bad diet of too many lunches!

Anyway I was again privileged to deputise for her on EAT MY LUNCH today. As usual when I look after things for her, I take a look at some of the quirkier items of news around. Today we revealed the story of an office joke gone wrong, when someone put a plastic spider on the boss’s desk. It seems that somebody, thinking it was real, called the police and a dangerous animal expert. The staff of the firm concerned in Switzerland had been evacuated from the building and although they have been told they will not be prosecuted for wasting police time, were forced to attend a 20 minute lecture on how to tell the difference between real spiders and plastic toys.

And continuing the theme of toys, this time adult toys, came the story of a team of 18 police officers in China being deployed to save what was thought to be a drowning woman in a river. In front of a crowd of 1000 onlookers officers finally managed to complete the rescue only to find that the victim was a discarded inflatable woman. Bit of a blow really!

Finally we had the tale of the Canadian man who accidentally shot himself whilst trying to kill a mouse with the butt of his rifle. Seemingly he hadn’t realised that the gun was loaded and was therefore surprised when the gun went off resulting in the bullett grazing his forehead. He escaped without serious injury but will be charged with “careless use of a firearm”. The fate of the mouse was not recorded.

Apart from these tales, we enjoyed 4 tracks from Joe Finnegan, Aiden Eggenton and Jamie Wilsdon – three 20 year old lads who together make up WIDEBOY GENERATION. They recorded 4 songs for us during our CREATIVE SESSIONS back at the end of May. Their debut album, NO TIME TO BE SHY is now due for release on 6th August and we heard the title track followed by SYLVIA, GET UP GET UP and finally MISS PRONOUNCED.

Hopefully Michelle will be back soon although I rather think I’ll be on parade again tomorrow.

See you then,

Scott
