Playlist for 12 July 2012 (Creative Session: Midway Still) (AOTW: Laetitia Sadier – Silencio)

We are currently thick in the middle of week one of our Creative Sessions first play – 23 bands, a new band a day, and today was the first opportunity to listen to the Midway Still session in its entirety. There were a band who were much lauded in the early 90s, described by the NME as Britain’s answer to Nirvana, and I was there to witness them first time round – although in my opinion, and perhaps unusually, since getting back together a few years ago they have trumped all of their 90s work with two excellent albums, Note To Self in 2010 and Always Ends, which came out last month. You can buy their stuff and read all about them at their official website.

If you missed it you can see a video of them recording the title track to “Note To Self” for us below:

Today’s album of the week was from former Stereolab frontperson Laetitia Sadier, who has been much missed from the music world since Stereolab stopped putting out an album every fortnight when they went on “permanent hiatus” a couple of years ago.
