You can July on the weather

Another month over and yet another day of mixed weather….sun n showers outside the studio. Today was Armed Forces Day, and so we doff our cap to our Brave men & woman, and as per, played some great songs. Including two from The Stone Roses, on my Twofers as they were playing a massive reunion gig on Friday….

Reunited ..The Stone Roses. so we played 'I want to be adored' and 'Love spreads'.

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Marcus Brigstocke: The Brig Society Edinburgh Preview 3rd July 2012 • Leicester Square Theatre

Marcus Brigstocke is promising no less than the total restructuring of every aspect of life in Britain, organised through the medium of jokes. How can you miss that? The Leicester Square Theatre seats around 420 people

Rich Hall’s Hoe Down – 4th – 12th July 2012 • Soho Theatre

You might have seen Rich Hall on comedy quiz shows like “QI”, but if you haven’t seen him on stage then you’re missing a treat. Now’s your chance to catch Rich with some of his musical mates in a late-night mix of music

Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert – 5th – 7th July 2012 • Hammersmith Apollo

Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert is starting to make a name for himself after a string of successful performances on the “Royal Variety Performance”, “Live At The Apollo”, and “Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow”. Now he’s back.

My music pick for this week;

Sun 01 Jul

Garbage – O2 Academy Brixton

Nineties indie band fronted by fiercely intelligent Shirley Manson who provides the tortured and acerbic lyrics to the male musical backbone of Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig.

Thu 05 Jul

The Gossip – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire

Feminist punk band from Arkansas who have their backs against the wall. Beth Ditto is their highly charismatic front woman, whose thunderous soulful vocals will ensure that anyone attending a Gossip concert will be subject to an overwhelming punk experience.

Fri 06 Jul

Gruff Rhys – Royal Festival Hall

Super Furry Animals front man Gruff Rhys showcases his latest psych-folk pop gems

Sun 08 Jul

Faith No More – HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London

Legendary American rock-metal group from San Francisco who have reformed to play once again in front of their worldwide fanbase
