Playlist for 7 June 2012 (AOTW: Midway Still – Always Ends)

Tonight’s album of the week was the new offering from MIDWAY STILL, “Always Ends”. The band were around in the early 90s and were lumped in with the explosion of grunge bands that came up in the UK and US at that time – they did play live with Nirvana, and the NME described them as the UK’s answer to the Seattle legends, although their sound is more accurately a pop/punk hybrid (don’t think Blink 182 or Bowling For Soup when you read this). After a long long hiatus they returned in 2010 with a new album, “Note To Self” – and now this one, with its brilliant cover art, joins them.

Tonight’s playlist:

Tahiti 80 – Yellow Butterfly
Midway Still – Something And Nothing
Bellatrix – Sweet Surrender
Robocop Kraus – Small Houses Odd Cars
Modovar – Same Old Scene
Cantaloupe – Hubbub
Belter – TV Junkie
Pulp – Babies
Curve – Fait Accompli
Wind-Up Birds – Cross Country
Knifeworld – Clairvoyant Fortnight
Midway Still – No Guarantees
Hives – Go Right Ahead
Franz Ferdinand – Darts Of Pleasure
Duke Spirit – Glorious
Bleech – Adrenalin Junkie
Jim Bob – Dumb and Dumber
Fratellis – Baby Fratelli
Shiny Darkness – The Sound Of Basildon
Maximo Park – Hips And Lips (6music acoustic session 27-05-2012)
Bury Me A Lion – Year Of The Lion
Eliza Newman – Stjörnuryk
Steve Butler – The Cow Song
Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Bright Lit Blue Skies
Metric – Speed The Collapse
Be Your Own Pet – Fire Department
Midway Still – This Time
2:54 – Creeping
Dodgy – What Became Of You
