It’s all about talented heroes this week!

This week on In The Mix Havering College student Holly Bond came in to talk about the Portal’s exhibition taking place next weekend which sounds very exciting, you your interested in going along then here are more details about the event:

The HND Media Prodcution students of Havering College would like to invite you to the exhibition PORTALS.
Exhibition date: 4th May 2012, 5-7pm
The Queen’s Theatre, Billet Lane, Hornchurch RM11 1QT
The title Portal was assigned to the exhibition as it brings together five distinct perspectives on this great metropolis.
We will be showcasing the best photographs that the students have taken throughout our time at Havering College and also in our own time.
Guest speaker Robert Noseda will be making a speech about the photography exhibition and the students who put on the event.
Complimentary drinks will be available on arrival at The Queens Theatre.

And of course here is the weeks celebrity gossip…..

Eastenders Music Festival

A few weeks ago I mentioned that TV soap Coronation Street was being turned into a musical and over the past couple of weeks I have mentioned some music festival which will take place over the summer, now I have a bit of news that combines both.

There has been talks about having a music festival on the grounds of Albert Sqaure, where Eastenders is set.

Shane Richie who plays Aflie Moon in the programme said he would like to host the event and has already had a few ideas for it including the name and performing artists, he said “We’d call it The Queen V Festival. We’d like to try to do it after the Olympics.

“I’ve asked Coldplay and Adele – they haven’t said yes, but they haven’t said no either.”
“At least I know Adele’s an EastEnders fan because she has episodes shipped to her wherever she is in the world!”

The Avengers
This week one of the biggest films in history came to cinema screens and that was of course The Avengers. Many fans have been waiting for years for this film to come out and it can now be available to see in either 2D or 3D.
It sees Nick Fury played once again by Samuel L Jackson, bring together a team of super heros, which are Captain Amercia – Chris Evans, Iron Man – Robert Downey Jr. Thor- Chris Hemsworth, The Hulk – Mark Ruffalo , taking over from Edward Norton ,Black Widow- Scarlett Johansson, Hawkeye- Jeremy Renner
fight against the evil Loki-Tom Hiddleston who is declaring battle on Earth.
The Avengers has recorded the third-biggest opening of all time behind Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and first-placed Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith with a ranking of £2.5m in its opening day at the UK box office.

However it could have been a very different story as Stan Lee who is the producer of the Marvel comics which the films are based on, was once too embarrassed to admit he writes comics for a living. He explained saying “In the beginning, comics were the lowest rung on the cultural totem pole. I’d go to a party and people would say ‘What do you do?’ ‘Um, uh, I’m a writer’ and I’d try to walk away. And the guy would follow. ‘What do you write?’ ‘Oh, er, stories for kids’. Well finally he’d pin me down and I’d say, ‘Okay, I write comic books’ – and boy, he couldn’t get away fast enough,”

But things have changed dramatically since then as Lee continues “Now, though, I walk into a party and someone sees me and they say, ‘Sorry, excuse me a minute, President Obama, I have to go over and say hello to Stan Lee’. Well, OK – slight exaggeration on my part.”

Stan Lee has a comeo appearance in all of the Avenger members movies and of course has one in the Avenger film itself.

Britain’s got Talent contestants…Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
The quiz show, hosted by Chris Tarrent, Who Want to be a Millionaire is going to team up with its fellow ITV show, Britain’s Got Talent for a special edition of the show.
Contestants will include singer Paul Potts, dancers Twise and Pulse and entertainers Stavros Flatley.
Twist from the duo Twist and pulse have high hopes to do very well has he says “We’re well practiced as a team and we’ve been writing questions for each other in preparation. We’ve very high hopes of hitting the million!”

The father in Stavros Flatley Demetrios said: “We’re very lucky to be in the position to take part in the show and help a great cause, I just need to become more decisive as I’m terrible at making decisions. Lagi will no doubt keep me in check.”

This Who Want to Be a Millionaire: Britain’s Got Talent Special will air on Sunday, May 6 on ITV1.
