NO LADY WRESTLERS HERE JUST ANOTHER VERY PACKED LUNCH

For a second week running our packed lunch was an extra large repast today, spread over a whole 3 hours! I was privileged today to be joined today by Ann Wiseall, a past president of Business & Professional Women and member of the Billericay branch of this organisation. Contrary to reports to the contrary this organisation is not involved in female wrestling!

They are actually deeply concerned with promoting women in the world of business by aiming, among other things to develop their business and leadership potentials. Many different avenues are being used to achieve these goals including regular learning and mentoring programmes, monthly meetings locally as well as annual national events. The organisation has been going internationally since 1930 and in the UK since 1938. Ann is very keen to attract new members, especially from the young. If you are interested call Ann on 01277 623867 or go to the website at www.bpwuk.co.uk.

You can listen to the interview with Ann again right here: –  [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Ann-Wiseall-interview.mp3|titles=Ann Wiseall interview]

In the second hour I was joined by Frances Clamp who was talking about a subject close to my heart – pubs! But not just any pub, but The Crown Inn in Billericay. You can hear what Francis had to say right here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Bygones-10th-April.mp3|titles=Bygones 10th April]

Next week Frances will be telling us about a vicar who served the parish of South Weald for over half a century from 1823 to 1876.

We also had time to take a look at some “weird and whacky” news items including one about a woman who managed to seal herself inside a  flatpack wardrobe she was assembling and another concerning a dramatic stunt employed to launch a new US film channel in Belgium which resulted in “gobsmacked” shoppers witnessing a series of apparent incidents including a gun battle with police, an ambulance crew “accidentally” dropping a patient’s body and a street fight with paramedics!

We also managed to squash in a veritable pile of great music featuring some classic memories mixed together with some of the newest releases around, including the latest song by local singer JAZZ BLAACK – I Just Wanna Be Me. Jazz was one of the first guests on my PACKED LUNCH show last October and I’m delighted to say that she’ll be joining me  again for a re-visit next week. Really looking forward to that.

Anyway that’s me done for another week. Hope to see you again next Saturday at 12 noon. Meantime have a good week. All the best,

Scott
