Corrie Musical!

There are many films which feature a number of songs in them which have been turned into a stage production such as the popular Lion King and Grease, but even know films which don’t necessary have the characters singing the songs such as Shrek have been turned into a musical. But even more adventurous is the fact the soap Coronation Street is now having a makeover and taking to the stage!
The production will be called Street of Dreams and will feature stars such as Paul o Grady, Julie Goodyear, Kym Marsh, Kevin Kennedy and Bill Roache.

A singer who will make a guest appearance is X Factor winner Joe McElderry. He will join the cast to sing the the musical’s finale number ‘Ghost – Take My Hand’ when they perform ay Newcastle on the 29th and 20th of May. Joe has expressed his excitement by saying “I’m such a huge fan of Coronation Street – it’s been a huge part of my life since I was a child, so to be a part of this amazing musical homage is really exciting.
“I can’t wait to be stood on stage in my home town alongside the cast of Corrie singing this beautiful finale number. It’s an honour.”

So if you a fan of Corrie then put these dates in your diary, the show will premier in Manchester on May the 9th. On the 18th and 19th May it will be at The O2  in Dublin, then it goes to Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on May 21st and 22nd.

Kevin Kennedy who will reprise his role as Curly Watts has said “I can guarantee this is a very big spectacular show, this is not something that’s just been thrown together.

Song Writing
this week Mcfly member Tom Fletcher has revealed he is currently writing songs for,  Xfactor band One direction.
The boys have done really well in the US since they have been there as their album Up All Night, got to number one last week and a song called ‘I Want’ features on the album. Tom has had an input into that song already, and he is looking forward to being more involved as he explained saying
“I can’t wait to write more tunes for One Direction as I’m really proud of their success in America,”
“I haven’t been given a brief as to what kind of song they want from me; we’re just waiting to see what I come up with.”

It’s likely  whatever he does come up with will be good for the boys as they will understand the experiences behind the songs has Tom had commented on saying “Some songwriters have never been in a band, but the One Direction guys can relate to me, as I’ve been through the same kind of experiences as they have.
