Club Culture – Perfect Virtue Special

October 1993 at Joe Fridays in Southend saw the launch night of one of Southend’s all time great events PERFECT VIRTUE, fondly remembered by thousands of dedicated followers. This weekly gathering outgrew Joe Fridays due to its’ immense popularity and moved to Adlib in July 1994, culminating it’s successful era at the Zero at the end of 1996 while still at it’s peak.

The main reason Perfect Virtue was such a success was due to the friendly family of dedicated followers who came religiously every Saturday night for their weekly fix of full-on dance music again at that time new to Southend which until then had been inundated with commercial pop music. It was those fantastic people who helped create the unique and unbeatable atmosphere and experience that is Perfect Virtue.

Perfect Virtue was reborn when the celebrations for the Reunited 10th Anniversary event took place at Storm Nightclub in Southend on Saturday 11th October 2003. The night was hosted by the original residents and was a complete sell-out. Due to the fantastic success of the reunion night, Perfect Virtue returned the following Easter Bank Holiday Sunday and August Bank Holiday Sunday. In March 2006 due to demand the event went monthly at Storm and continued its’ successful run.

SATURDAY 25th OCTOBER 2008 saw another Perfect Virtue milestone when it celebrated both the 15th ANNIVERSARY of its’ launch and the 5th ANNIVERSARY at STORM with a REUNITED MEGA PARTY featuring a line-up of original and legendary PV DJs. Now in its’ 18th year since the launch, it is still packing them in!!

Gary would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported the night, my family & friends, the people, the Guest DJs, the Resident DJs Jon, Stewart, Cosmic & Dave, the production sound & light guys, the clubs and everyone associated with them, Karen, Sue & Kiwi and all of the nutters (Far too many to mention!) and finally to my amazing mum Maureen a very special lady whom I miss dearly and who supported and encouraged me right from the start. With much love & respect to you all x
